Our Officers
The Provident Security Officer is the cornerstone of our security service. Before the Provident Security Officer enters the door for on-site training, we have taken the right steps in the selection process.
Provident Security Officers are hand picked by local management to fit the needs of each customer. After a thorough background investigation, The Provident Security Officer undergoes intensive training so that he or she is prepared to meet the needs of each customer.
Our Background investigation includes:
Character Interview
Criminal History Check (Local & Statewide prior to employment)
FBI Criminal History with State Registration
Previous Employment (All gaps more than 30 days confirmed)
Confirmation of Application Information (DD 214, Education, etc.)
Personal References
Proof of Age and Legal Right to Work
Provident Security Officers are supported in the field by field and mobile patrol supervision. Our ratio of Security Officers to Supervisors is approximately 10 to 1. Field supervisors perform random, unannounced inspections of our various sites, usually at night and on weekends. Unlike most other companies, we do not see the main purpose of our field supervision to “catch” our officers doing something wrong. Rather, we see our supervisors as a support function to our officers to assist them, motivate them and “catch” them doing something right. However, if corrective action is needed, our supervisors are trained to act accordingly. Field Supervision is accessible 24/7/365 via the Nextel network.
Training
Provident Security believes that all security personnel should be adequately trained in order to provide professional, courteous security services. All Provident Officers complete a thorough training program prior to beginning their post assignment. There is no time limit on the training. The training continues until the trainee has demonstrated a proficiency level and passes a final examination.
Post Orders
The first step in implementing a training program is the compilation of a comprehensive training manual (Post Orders). Provident develops this manual in conjunction with local law enforcement and the customer’s management team.
Classroom Training
The classroom phase of our training consist of 40 hours of state certified instruction, usually conducted in-house by one of our state certified instructors. Upon successful completion of this class, personnel are certified and issued a license by the Florida Dept. of State.
Areas covered are:
Patrol techniques
Report writing
Fire prevention and suppression
Crime/accident Scene Protection
Crime prevention
Legal limits of authority
Emergency response and basic first aid
Professionalism and conduct
Public relations
Traffic control
On The Job Training
On-the-Job training is perhaps the most important phase of the training process. Utilizing Post Orders and other useful training tools, our supervisors and management provide the professional training necessary to prepare the officer to perform his or her duties. Unlike most companies, we do not place a time limit on the amount of training an officer receives.
Recurrent Training
During monthly meetings, Provident provides on-going training to ensure that the officers stay up to date on all new procedures and security trends occurring in their area of jurisdiction. Most employee meetings are held in conjunction with our Character First meetings.
